A minister
had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and
then was afraid to come down. The minister coaxed, offered
warm milk
and
the kitten wouldn't come down.
The tree was not sturdy enough
to climb, so the minister decided to tie a rope to tree and his car,
drive away
so
the tree would bend down and he could reach up and get the
kitten.
He
moved slowly further and further and just as he thought he
could reach
the kitten, the rope broke. The tree went "boing" and the
kitten sailed
through the air out of sight.
He walked around the
neighborhood
asking
people if they had seen the kitten, but nobody had. So he
prayed,
"Lord,
I just commit this kitten to your keeping," and went about his business.
A few days later he met one of his church members at the
grocery
store. He was amazed to see cat food in her cart, because this
woman
was
a "cat hater" and everyone knew it, so he asked her, "Why are
you
buying
cat food when you hate cats so much?"
She replied, "You won't
believe
this," and she told how her little girl had been begging for a
cat, but
she kept refusing.
Then a few days ago, the child had begged
again, so
the mom finally told her, "Well, if God gives you a cat, I'll
let you
keep it."
She told
him, "I watched my child go out into the yard, get on her
knees and ask God for a cat. And really, Preacher you won't
believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly
came flying out of the sky and landed in her arms.
The moral of this
little story is my favorite little saying
"You
never know when you are the answer to someone else's prayer.
